Prudential Spirit of Community Award

Dalia Deak, a junior at the Islamic Saudi Academy, recently received the Prudential Spirit of Community Award and was among the top 10% of Virginia community volunteers. Her submitted project was an online supplementary English program that taught girls in a small village in Palestine after their teachers went on strike from lack of pay. She put in almost 100 hours in this project, which started in August 2006 and finished when the teachers went off strike later that winter.
