Pre-Calculus Summer Course
Grades 10 and 11
July 5th – 28th
Course Outline
- Honors Pre-Calculus is offered to
students who have successfully completed Math 11 with at
least “B” average.
- Topics discussed include solving
linear and nonlinear equations and inequalities, exponential
and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions and
identities, matrices, conics, systems of equations and
inequalities, and probability.
- Problem solving activities and review
of algebraic skills will be interspersed throughout the
course.

A graphing calculator is
required for the course (TI-83 Plus recommended
Course Description
This course is for students who are
planning to take Calculus or attending a college with a
mathematics course is required. Students in this course will
review functional notation and several types of functions
including polynomials, rational functions, root and power
functions, and logarithms. Students will be exposed to
minimal elements of statistics including data representation,
data analysis, and probability. A large portion of the class
will be devoted to trigonometry. In preparation for Calculus,
students will be exposed to sequences, limits, and
continuity. If time permits, matrices and analytical geometry
will be studied. Students should expect daily assignments,
activities, quizzes, projects, and tests consisting of short
answer questions and calculations.

You will need your book, papers, pencil, and a calculator
every day.

Participate.
Read the lessons, take notes, ask questions, do all
homework, work on math from “bell to bell”, and attend class
regularly.

Cost of the Pre-Calculus course is
$500/student.
Students are responsible for their
lunches and transportation to and from school.
