Library Media Center

Centrally
located between the Boy and Girl's schools, the Library Media
Center (LMC) is the heart of ISA. It is where staff, faculty,
and students come together to study, share, and learn. Extra
efforts have been made to create a comfortable, welcoming,
and functional environment for the staff, students, and faculty
of ISA. The LMC staff has endeavored to make the Library a
center for relaxation and enjoyment as well as for research
and education. Displays of new Arabic and English books, the
presentation of student's artwork, children's bilingual storytelling
activities, and a reading lounge area are all regularly available
in the Library.
Over
50,000 Arabic and English reference materials, fiction and
non-fiction books, newspapers, journals and magazines may
be found for all ages and interests. Videos, filmstrips, and
cable TV are also available in effort of providing complete
multi media services.
As
of this year, all English resources including books, videos,
and CD's can be electronically reached
on the
Library's online catalog. The Library Media
Center staff is here to assist all ISA staff and students
with the use of the Arabic, Islamic, and English collections
through the aide of reference materials, the Internet, library
skills lessons, and story telling to the younger students
in both Arabic and English. We offer a variety of multimedia
resources including reference CD's in both Arabic and English,
electronic newspaper and periodical listings, and, encyclopedias
in both print and CD formats. Facts. COM and Electric Library,
ISA's subscription electronic databases, provide scholarly
answers to student's queries in addition to the multitude
of web based search sites.
Due
to the generosity of teachers, students, and parents who have
donated new and used resources,
the LMC staff has been able to continue to provide new and
exciting materials into the Library Media Center for the benefit
of ISA staff and students.
The LMC maintains a community information board where staff
and students can be kept apprised of local events at libraries,
educational institutions, and community centers.
The
LMC staff of five endeavors to provide the best possible assistance
to the ISA community. We are…
Abuagla Abuagla, Assistant Librarian, is responsible for the
Islamic and Arabic collections.
Abdelwahid Altirafi, Media Supervisor, is an expert calligrapher.
Mahboob Faridi, Media Assistant, serves as the school photographer,
camera man and media prep specialist.
