SPECIAL EVENTS
- February 2009: Senior, Amjaad Al-Hussain was given the NASSP Principal’s Leadership Award during the Semester Honor Roll. Amjaad received this award for her outstanding leadership skills and active community service record.
- February 2009: More than 60 girls from grades 7 to 12 were recognized for making the First Semester A or A+ Honor Roll. Congratulations to our hardworking students!
- January 2009: ISA held its annual science fair. Winners will go on to the Regional Competition in Fairfax County.
- In October, the Advanced Placement Biology students went to a conference on Genomes. Students and teachers said it was very rewarding and quite a learning experience.
- 8th grade students were accepted into a special drama program this year. Students wrote their own play and now have a chance to have it selected to be performed by professional actors. Recently the students attended the Shakespeare’s Folger’s Festival.
- In November, 8th grade students went on a science fieldtrip to the Fairfax County Water Authority.
- ISA held a very successful blood drive in February for INOVA. Over 30 teachers and students donated blood.
- In November, Sagah Ahmed, one of our juniors, represented our school on the It’s Academic team. The contest was televised in December. The NBC4 program, It’s Academic, is one of the longest running shows on television.
