SCHOOL UNIFORM

To insure a basic level of uniformity all boys will be required to wear clothing from our supplier, Flynn & O'Hara Uniforms, during school hours. Flynn O’Hara is located at: Fair City Mall, 9650 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031. [Directions: Take 495 to Exit 52 West (Rte. 236 "Little River Turnpike") for 2.5 Miles, and turn Right into shopping center area to Mall at end.] Their phone number is (703) 503-5966. Acceptable apparel will be limited to the following Flynn O’Hara items:

    • Grey slacks

    • Black belt

    • Black shoes

    • White polo-style shirt (short or long-sleeved) - with optional white undershirt

    • (optional) Black sweater – no hoods.

Students not dressed to the code will not be allowed to attend class. Resulting absences will be unexcused. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

USE OF CELL PHONES, ELECTRONIC DEVICES SUCH AS iPODS, BLACKBERRIES, ETC. BY STUDENTS

A student may not have a cell phone or other such electronic device in his clothing or school bag during school hours from 7:45 AM until 3:00 PM.

  • If this rule is not followed, the phone will be confiscated by the teacher and given to the Assistant or Vice Principal on the first offense and given to the student at the end of the day. 
  • On the second offense, the phone will be confiscated by teacher and turned in to the Assistant or Vice Principal and given to the student after one week.   
  • On the third offense the phone will be confiscated by teacher and turned in to the Assistant or Vice Principal and given only to the student’s parent or guardian.

REPEATED INCIDENTS OF STUDENT ABSENCES OR TARDY TO CLASS

Regular on-time arrival is essential for student success. If your child is going to be either absent for the entire day or late for any reason, the parent must call the school office to notify the school. If the school does not receive a call from a parent, the absence or tardiness will be considered unexcused.

Excused Absence and Tardy—Illness of the student, death in the family, medical appointment, and observance of a religious holiday. The principal or his or her designee may require a physician’s note in cases of chronic or long-term illness.
Unexcused Absence and Tardy—Family trip, child care problem, oversleeping, non-school-related activity, traffic, or missed bus.

Repeated offenses of Tardy to class will be dealt with in the following manner:.

  • 1st Offense –   Verbal warning by a principal.  Phone call to parents. 
  • 2nd Offense – Teacher instructed to deducted points from participation points.Letter sent to parents.
  •  3rd Offense -   Points deducted from participation points.  Student not permitted
    to make up work, so a zero is given for work of the day.  Letter sent to parents. Student assigned noon time detention and lunch room cleanup. On the third offense the phone will be confiscated by teacher and turned in to the Assistant or Vice Principal and given only to the student’s parent or guardian.
  • 4th Offense -    Points deducted from participation points.  Student given one-day
    in-school suspension.  Student not permitted to make up work, so a
    zero is given for work of the day.  Letter sent to parents.
  • 5th Offense -    Points deducted from participation points.  Student given one-day
    in-school suspension.  Student not permitted to make up work, so a
    zero is given for work of the day.  Parent/s must meet with Principal to permit student to re-enter classes.
